Prior to vision therapy, my daughter Betsy was very anxious, clumsy, and had a very short attention span. Despite having completed a full year of preschool, she could only identify one letter and not even every time. Betsy did not like to be read to or look at books. She would regularly walk into people, doorways, furniture and other objects. She would trip over her own feet or objects on the floor several times a day. Betsy was very anxious, quick to get frustrated and frequently refused to participate in activities.
Now, Betsy is much more laid back and relaxed. She does not get frustrated or angry nearly as quickly and easily. Betsy is much more willing to participate in activities. Betsy seems to be much more aware of her environment and where she is at in her environment. She rarely walks into things and I don't even know the last time she tripped. Betsy loves to look at books and be read to now. She can consistently identify 12 letters (both upper case and lower case), and with less consistently identify up to 20 letters and single digit numbers.
The behavior and mood changes due to vision therapy have been amazing. Academically, she is much closer to her peers than last year and almost fully caught up to where she should be.
